Uber Eats Previews 2022 Super Bowl Ad
February 09, 2022
For the second year in a row, Uber Eats is headed to the Super Bowl, this time asking the question: “Just because you can get anything delivered with Uber Eats, does that mean you can Eats it?”
The past few years have seen the company invest heavily in expanding its delivery service to offerings beyond just food, including groceries, alcohol, convenience, flowers and retail.
“In fact, nearly three million consumers order essentials beyond food each month through Uber Eats,” the company said in a news release Tuesday (Feb. 8). “That’s why in our second-ever big game campaign, we’re going long on this growth.”
The ad, set to air during the second quarter of the Bengals-Ram game, features Jennifer Coolidge, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicholas Braun and Trevor Noah “bite into their Uber Eats orders, which contain everything from lipstick, to lightbulbs, to paper towels and more. Confused, they wonder, ‘What even is food anymore?’”
The company’s debut Super Bowl commercial in 2021 was among the year’s more popular ads, featuring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reprise their Wayne’s World characters.
In conjunction with the Sunday (Feb. 13) game, Uber Eats has launched its “Big Game Goods” hub where customers will be able to get anything — except alcohol — they need for their Super Bowl parties.
“And because Gwyneth Paltrow stars in our spot, we are bringing Goop onto Uber Eats exclusively so fans can purchase her iconic candles, GOOPGLOW products, and more on-demand in New York City and Los Angeles,” the company said.
Uber Eats notes that because the big game happens the night before Valentine’s Day, it is also launching a Valentine’s Day hub in its app, giving customers the chances to get up to $20 off V-Day Eats and “Don’t Eats” like flowers, chocolates, candles, bath bombs and more.
